I'm Back

After a short break I've decided to come back to the blogging community. Many things have changed since the old days. I'm a now a full time wife and mommy, part time cat trainer, occasional writer, full time seamstress, Star Trek geek, Martha Stewart fan and Sims addict.

Yesterday I went to my favorite hair stylist and received a new do. It's short all around with a fringe on top. I loved it. All the people in the salon loved it. One lady asked me to come over to her stylist and show her the do so she could get the same thing. I was so excited. Everyone loved my hair, everyone wanted my hair. I was popular hair girl. I walked out of there standing a little taller and feeling oh so stylish and sexy. This high lasted until I got home and saw Levi's smile fade. He looked at me then quickly turned his gaze away, as though trying to hide the horror in his eyes. I asked, "So, what do you think. Cute huh?" His reply was typical of a loving husband who's trying to be honest and considerate at the same time. "It's okay I guess. It makes your face look long (his way of saying that my head looks distorted). I like the old style better". I was a little deflated, but I kept remembering how much everyone in the salon loved it, and clung to that memory for comfort. A short while later I knocked on a friends door to drop off some items. She opened the door, looked at me funny, paused a moment, then said, "Nice earings". What on earth? My earings? It's clear that my do was shocking and horrifying to 2 people. What's going on? Could all those people at the salon be gathering together to make every customer feel good about their do, even if it's awful? I can't believe it.

At church today, 2 people complemented me on my hair. Are they telling the truth or are they lying? I can't tell anymore! Will people be cast into haties for lying in church?

I came across a fun web site today Science Daily. After reading several of the articles, I came across this hilarious article about a person who found boxes with dead people on her property.

If that happened to me, I would move!

More Planets?

For the past several days, news of 4 new planets being discovered is being broadcasted. I anxiously watch and wait for some decent information to be announced, but news stations only provide you with a tickler of information that provides very basic infomation. "4 new planets have been discovered, isn't this great. Now onto other news..." What the... where's the rest of the infomation? Well, naturally I turn to our good and trusty NASA web site to get the information that the news won't to give. Maybe they made an agreement with aliens to keep the thing low key. Hmmm... Oh well.

Anyway, it turns out that one of the planets found is about the size of our Neptune. That sucker is HUGE! 10-20 times the size of earth. It's true that they don't know if it's made of rock or gas, but the idea of such a big planet circuling a star called "Gliese 436" is just exciting. (Levi, can we get a high power telescope?) Here are some sketches of what this new planet might look like.

NASA does a good job at tickling our imaginations on this site, as they even discuss the possibility of finding planets like ours that can sustain life. Oooo. possible aliens.

Getting Organized

Last Friday I acquired the coolest toy, It's a Dell Axium X3i. It has integrated wireless, plays MP3s, moves faster than any desk top I've played on, and has me once again addicted to solitaire.

Growling Stomach

I read an interesting, yet humorous article this morning that discusses the causes of the lovely noises our bodies make, such as the growling stomach, burps and of course flatulence.

I found it rather interesting that the growling stomach noise isn't caused by the stomach. It's caused by the intestines they contract and as air moves inside.

Jackson. Guilty or Innocent?

It appears that Michael Jackson has found himself in yet another pickle.

I'm the sort of person who likes to believe a person is innocent, but I also despise the idea of a person getting away with bad stuff just because their a celebrity.

Calcium

I was shopping recently for some calcium supplements, and found that there are numerous choices. There are many brands with different levels of calcium, some claim to have lncreased absorption, some come with magnesium and other nutrients, some even claim to have an improved formula with cancer fighting agents. Is this really true? What really the best type?

I found a few websites that explain some things about Coral Calcium. It's mined from the Okinawa reefs which are believed to be dead. Call me silly, but I can't imagine that it's a good thing to mine coral, dead or alive. Although I've been cut up and scratched by coral, I harbor no ill will. Thank goodness it's not the best calciium to choose.

According to WebMD, there are three types of calcium available.

1- Calcium carbonate -- the most common and least expensive -- comes from oyster shells and is absorbed best when taken with a meal.
2- Calcium citrate and calcium gluconate are formulated so that they can be taken without food.
3- Coral calcium consists of calcium carbonate, magnesium, and trace minerals like selenium and chromium.

So what is the best Calcium? According to WebMD, stick with Calcium Carbonate.

Are Hungry Dogs Safe?

The answer is maybe. If you buy feed from Champion Pet Food out of Alberta, your recently purchased bag may be at risk. Accroding to msnbc news, some dog food may have been made using Canadian cows suspected of having mad cow disease. mad cow.
There is some good news in this, ironically. According to the report, Dogs will not contract Mad Cow. The problem is that the Dog food in question may be mixed with other animal feed causing a possible spread of mad cow disease. Oh the joys of living on Planet Earth!
