Friday the 13th

Tradition has it that Friday the 13th will be a very unlucky day for everyone in the world. I can honestly say that I have had unlucky days at random, and the bad luck guy who passes his fortune around doesn't necessarly wait to show his face for Friday the 13th. So what makes this day so scary? I personally believe that that it's all a bunch of mumbo jumbo that was put together to cause fear in people. For as we all know, it's quite fun to get people to believe things that we fabricate.

In my quest to find the source of the unlucky Friday. I came across this site. As I suspected, there are numberous reasons this day could be bad. My favorite is from the Norse culture where the god Loki crashes a party of 12. I'm guessing he was intentionally not invited, being the party animal. Another favorite is from a British tradition of hanging people on Friday. Before they were hung, they would walk up 13 stairs to get to the noose. Ohh.. creepy.

In 4 days we get to enjoy this unlucky day. Knowing what all the fuss is about, I hope you will enjoy taunting all the superstitious people around you. Perhaps we should make this Friday, "Bring your black cat to work day".
