Not Again!

I woke up early Thursday morning once again in pain. I finished my antibiotics on Tuesday and was worried that the infection was back. The pain didn't seem strong enough to be another kidney stone, but then I'm not an expert on any of this. The pain continued to grow throughout the morning and my OB doctor instructed me to come in for more tests. The results? Yes, the infection was back, and yes there was another kidney stone. I'll be on antibiotics through the rest of my pregnancy. I believe the stone passed this morning, as my pain level has decreased significantly.

I have had a lot of super kind people recommend home remedies to help pass the kidney stones. I've played around with a few, but nothing really worked. I talked to my Doctor about them and was instructed that the soda in coke and the citrus in drinking lemon water would only irritate my kidney infection. I well believe this, as my discomfort levels did rise when I tried these home remedies.

I suppose if you only have a stone and not an infection, it's worth giving those home remedies a try.

Thanks anyway.

Another neighbor gave another home remedy recommendation of drinking 8 ounces of pure apple juice with 2 tablespoons of olive oil mixed in. I haven't tried this one, but my doctor said that this one would be least likely to irritate the infection.

I'm not sure I could stomach this one.

To clarify, the actual home remedies that my neighbors suggested are:

1- Drink as much old fashioned coke as possible. This is supposed to help break the stone down.

2- Drink lemon juice, and a lot of it. It's also supposed to break the stone down.

I think with having a baby on top of everything else better to just stick with the doc.

Mel,
I'm sorry about your Kinney's. I had a stone(4stones really) 3 days after I gave birth. I know the pain!!! it did't help that I had a c-section 3days before. It took two weeks of pain to pass the dumb thing. The doctor told me the only thing that would help is to drink a ton of water to flush it out. He told me to drink lemon water after it passed to help pervent it from happing again. It was kind of a blessing that my baby was in the NICU (2months early) I don't think I could have cared for him in all the pain. I hope your Hubby is taking good care of you. Good luck

Thanks Bonnie.
Levi does take good care of me. It's hard for him to juggle his work, school and family and with me being so sick lately, he's missed a lot of work and school.

I'm sorry to hear about your stone experience. I'm glad that you're doing good now. Did you find the lemon water helpful?
